Anthony D’Avella
Partner
Anthony is the Founder of Runyon and a Partner, with a depth of experience in product design, venture strategy, and business model design. He helps product and design leaders shape better experiences for people that drive meaningful revenue growth. At Runyon, Anthony leads relationships across financial services, media, e-commerce, and AI. He is an alumnus of the global design firm, IDEO, the media firm, IMG, and the Harvard Business School.

The Runyon name means growth: it’s the name of the street that Anthony grew up down at the Jersey shore. Prior to founding Runyon, Anthony was a Senior Business Design Lead and Portfolio Director at IDEO's New York studio for 4+ years. While at IDEO, Anthony led design teams, grew the business design practice and incubated new ventures. He also led design and top client relationships for American Express, Target, Omron Healthcare (Mira Fitness venture), Merrill Lynch, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Gogo, Novartis, Ford, Lincoln and PayPal.
He mentors and teaches at the School of Visual Arts in the graduate MFA Design Program in the Designer as Entrepreneur track, and has also advised startups at TechStars and the Harvard Innovation Lab.
Anthony holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School (2nd Year Honors) and a B.A. cum laude in English and Italian from Middlebury College. He was the recipient of the Harvard Business School Dean’s Award (1 of 7 recipients out of a class of 900 students) for his economic redevelopment work in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
When he is not in Brooklyn with his wife, daughter and son, he can be found on a beach somewhere, usually down at the Jersey shore, trying to become a better surfer.

Joseph is a Partner at Runyon, with a depth of experience in experience design, venture incubation, and business model strategy. Joseph has shaped product experiences and designed new ventures with a range of businesses including early stage companies, venture capital firms and Fortune 500 enterprises across media, insurance technology, digital learning and ecommerce / marketplace. Prior to Runyon he spent time at IDEO, Lerer Hippeau Ventures and JPMorgan.

Prior to Runyon, Joseph was Founder and Partner of HARK, a venture and design firm dedicated to grounding new product experiences in user-advocated design, prototyping, and partnership-driven business strategy. Previously, Joseph served as the Ventures Lead and advisor at IDEO, leading an effort to partner with and launch new products and services utilizing design. Over the years, IDEO has invested in and incubated companies including Omada Health, PillPack (acquired by Amazon) and Mira Fitness (now part of Omron). While at IDEO he also concepted and piloted innovations for both early and late stage enterprises including SoulCycle, JPMorgan, Keurig Coffee, Heineken and Lowe's.
Previously, Joseph worked as an investor with Lerer Ventures, a NY seed-stage venture capital firm (investments including Warby Parker, Buzzfeed, Casper, Venmo), as a PT Partner at Notation Capital, and within the banking division of J.P. Morgan.
Joseph holds an MBA from Columbia University and a BS from Georgetown University. He serves as a Board Member of the Columbia Venture Community (CVC) and is Founder of Venturing Hoyas. His writing on venture and design can be found at rizkonceptions and TechCrunch.

Felipe Garcia
Sr. Design Director, Visual & Comms
Felipe leads visual and communications design for Runyon. Felipe has led prototype design across the entire Runyon portfolio and also designed the visual identities for Elemental Cognition, Aperture Investors, and Braidwell. Felipe previously helped to launch products both in Brazil and the US, with partners such as Nestlé, MasterCard, Asics, Vivo, and Reckitt Benckiser.
Erica Heinz
Principal Designer
Erica has over 20 years of experience in digital design and a current focus in UX. She has developed curriculum for and taught in the masters programs at Parsons and SVA in NYC. Past partners include Nike, Google, The Gates Foundation, and The New York Times.
Erin Hersey
Head of Design Research
Erin leads design research, helping our partners understand human behavior and needs, craft insights, and design new products that deliver more value and operational efficiency. Erin teaches in the Masters of Strategic Design Management at Parsons, helped found the masters in Design for Social Innovation at SVA, and previously led innovation strategy and organizational design at ?What If!. Her past partners include BlueCross Blue Shield, AARP, ABI InBev, AbbVie, Estée Lauder and VMware.
Sarah Lidgus
Sr. Design Director, Design Strategy
As a Design Director at Runyon, Sarah guides content and strategy across relationships and helps build our design teams. Sarah was previously Chief Experience Officer at Tempest, Design Lead at IDEO, and the first Designer in Residence at the NYC Mayor’s Office. Past partners include Ford, American Express, Harvard Business Digital, The Rockefeller Foundation, and TED.
Brenda Natoli
Sr. Design Director, Design Strategy
Brenda leads persuasion and acquisition strategy with a depth in human-centered design methodology. She is also a writer and editor specializing in verbal identity, brand marketing, and employee engagement tools. Brenda was previously the Head of Voice at the New York Times and a Partner in Verbal Branding at Prophet. She is also an alum of IDEO. Her past partners include Microsoft, The American Museum of Natural History, KPMG, the Environmental Defense Fund, and InterContinental Hotels Group.
Rashina Bhula
Design Research & Strategy Lead
Rashina leads design research and product strategy, ensuring our innovative solutions are grounded in human needs. She crafts insights that drive product design and business value. She has developed graduate-level design thinking curriculum at MIT and Parsons School of Design. Past partners include NASA, Teach For America, the National Museum of African American Music, and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.
Jennifer Romano, PhD
Senior UX Researcher & Strategist
Jen has over a decade of experience in UX research. She has directed teams and projects for Instagram, Facebook, Google, Bridgewater Associates, Principles by Ray Dalio, the US Census Bureau, and more, specializing in international research, surveys, experiments, and working fast.

Content & Design Strategist
Mindy articulates what’s possible to people. She translates strategy and narratives into prototypes, communicating the features of our products in ways that deliver value and increase conversion and engagement. Mindy has worked at IDEO, Capital One, and LivingSocial, and has advised teams at Khosla Ventures, Humanity.AI and Women Talk Design.
Dan Leatherman
Front End Developer
Dan helps Runyon build interactive prototypes and experiences that are honest and uncomplicated for people to use. Dan teaches Interaction Design at Parsons in NYC and previously held development positions at Red Antler and Fictive Kin. Past partners include charity: water, FirstMark Capital, and Collaborative Fund.
Rosaria Mannino
Venture & Product Strategy
Rosaria is an innovative product leader with an expertise in customer-driven innovation, design thinking and business strategy. She was previously the VP of Consumer Products at Blue Apron and the Head of Experience at ClassPass. Rosaria has also worked at various IDEO locations as a Lead Business Designer. Rosaria holds an MBA from Stanford University and a Bachelor’s in Economics from the University of Chicago. Past partners include Nike, GE, SFUSD, Intercorp, and Univision.

Amanda has over 14 years experience running design research, helping teams understand who their users are, what they need, and how insights tie to product and business design. When she is not listening to people share their feedback, Amanda teaches UX courses for LinkedIn Learning and helps organize Ladies that UX. Past partners include Fidelity, Twilio, Procter & Gamble, FedEx, Staples, Gulfstream, Adidas, and Vanguard.
Matt Hunter
Senior Product Strategy Director
Matt is an experienced design and product leader with a history working in startup environments. He most recently was Head of Product at all.health (formerly Jawbone) where he redesigned the core UP app experience and championed the acquisitions of Massive Health, Nutrivise, and Noise Toys. When he is not advancing the field of product design, he works as a founding mentor for CODE2040, the top college intern program connecting minority technology talent with Silicon Valley companies.

Sophia uses a strong design skillset and strategic background to help Runyon conduct design research and translate insights into tangible product innovations. She is passionate about the intersection between physical, digital, and service experiences.
